| | Model of the car: | Limited Wgn | | | General comments: | This has been the worst car I have owned since my '81 Chevy Citation. Many of the "features" are just gimmicks. If I were shopping for a new vehicle today I would not consider a Subaru. I have never before owned a vehicle in which interior and trim panels fell off! The vehicle has been into the dealership 4 times (would have been 8 or 10, but I am just too busy to take it in). Some of the design ergonomics is what I would have expected 20 years ago. Some people complain about the vehicle's power. While it is not great, I am satisfied. It is too bad, because without the problems and annoyances I would love this car.Another caution. The optional dog guard loosens up on bumpy roads. After it fell on my German Shepherd (2 times), he is afraid to get into the car. Part of the reason I chose this vehicle was so we could take the dog on day trips.A few weeks after purchasing your Subaru, the company sends a brochure of optional items. There is an optional accessory outlet that has power to it all the time. Isnt it nice that they allow you to purchase an item to fix their design screw up. By the way, the car comes with a second outlet in the back. This allows you to plug in the optional cooler that is available through your dealer. But guess what - the power to that outlet shuts off when the ignition is off too. So you can pay them to let your lunch spoil too.I am afraid that my vehicle is eventually going to catch on fire due to the gasoline fumes. I guess when this happens, the rear hatch panel that keeps falling off will fuse to the hatch, and thosa annoying seat heater switches will be cured at the same time. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Rear hatch panel falling off. Interior fills with raw gasoline fumes on start up in very cold weather. seat belts always get jammed when retracting. Seat heater switches poorly placed, always get bumped. heated mirrors do not work well below 32 deg. Heated wipers are useless (they are actually not heated wipers, instead, the windshield has a heating element where the wipers are parked). Who was the genius that came up with this??? Typically, the reason for heated wipersis to melt the ice that builds up on the wiper arms while driving in freezing rain. When driving in a hard rain I can feel a small amount of rain entering through the vents. Ice buid up on the rocker panel covers sometimes causes them to come loose. The accessory outlet (cigarette lighter outlet) shuts off when the ignition is turned off. Forget about recharging your cell phone when stopping to visit a client. | | | Previous car: | It is hard to pick a comparable product. The closest is the Audi, but to get all the nice features you have to go with the A6 at nearly twice the price. The A4 is available in the USA only with plastic (vinyl) seats and I am not going to pay $30K+ for a c |
